Around
The Sun
Palpate a path across this
bleak landscape
while I regale you once
again with tall
tales from my latest
journey, the one that
began right here when I
set off for Parts
Unknown with a brash wave,
shirt tails flapping
free in honor of the little
white lies
I swapped for some of your
rather woolly
Prognostications, the
prodigal fresh
from another trip around the
sun, sly
old morning cuss, second
story man wont
to heave a leg over my
sill every
morning for a little
looksee, hoary
witness to my slow and steady
loss of
altitude, chasing the
darkness with his
radiant flares to light
the way; the chute
you packed open, drop zone
bathed in sunset.
